What this site is

An introduction to Shira Shifrin's aging care consulting practice, and a way to get in touch. The information on it is general, written for a wide audience, and offered for information only.

The limits of what is offered here

Shira is a licensed Occupational Therapist, and her consulting work is guidance and care planning. It is not medical diagnosis or medical treatment, and it does not replace the care of a physician, nurse practitioner, or any other treating clinician. Nothing on this site, and nothing said in a consultation, should be treated as a medical opinion about a specific person.

Reading this site or sending a message does not create a therapist and client relationship. That begins only if you and Shira agree in writing to work together, on the terms set out in that agreement.

Decisions about medication, diagnosis, treatment, and discharge stay with the treating medical team. Always talk to them before changing anything about a person's medical care.

In an emergency

This site is not monitored around the clock and neither WhatsApp nor the contact form is an emergency service. If someone is in danger or needs urgent medical help, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

Accuracy

The content here is kept as accurate as reasonably possible, but it is general and it may become out of date. Every situation is different, and what is right for one family may be wrong for another.

Where this site links somewhere else, that site is not under Shira's control and these terms do not cover it.
